Sorasak Ditprecha used to earn his living as a waste collector and vendor and participated in protests led by the Red Shirts. He was arrested at his home by the police on 13 August 2016 and accused of being a member of an anti-government movement and a founding member of the Democratic Revolution Front Party (DRFP). Together with an additional 15 people, he was subject to an interrogation at the 11th Military Circle Base for several days. Then he was brought to the police and charged with being a member of a secret society and participating in a political assembly of five or more person in violation of Head of the National Council for Peace and Order No. 3/2558.

All of the suspects were later allowed to post bail by the Bangkok Military Court, except for Sorasak who was rearrested by the Crime Suppression Division for allegedly possessing weapons, firearms and ammunition without permission. According to the police, after his arrest, the military officers searched his residence and found an AK47 assault rifle and 31 bullets with a rifle bag hidden in a PVC waterpipe in his kitchen.

Regarding the case concerning being a member of a secret society or criminal association, as he was allegedly accused of being DRFP’s founding member, the judge advocate decided to not prosecute. But the judge advocate indicted Sorasak on weapons possessions charges in the Bangkok Military Court and his case has since been transferred to the civilian Criminal Court after the NCPO left office.

Then, on 7 September 2022, the Criminal Court convicted and sentenced him to four years in prison. As he provided beneficial evidence, it was reduced by one fourth to three years. Sorasak has been remanded in custody since the verdict was delivered by the Court of First Instance as he did not have enough money to post for bail. On 5 September 2023, the Appeal Court upheld the previous verdict and Sorasak did not further appeal the case, rendering the Appeal Court decision the final verdict.
