Wat (pseudonym), a barber, was indicted for posting Facebook messages which heaped praise on King Rama IX while criticizing King Rama X on 18 October 2020. A native of Ratchaburi, Wat is married and has a 13-year-old daughter who has epilepsy. Before the commencement of witness examination on 13 June 2023, he changed his mind and decided to plead guilty to the charges hoping to receive the lightest sentence or a suspended one.
Nonetheless, on 17 July 2023, he was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison. Given his guilty plea, the penalty was reduced in half to one year and six months without suspension.
