This case stems from an incident on 10 April 2010 when Methi was accused of carrying away weapons used by military officers during the crackdown on a public demonstration. The police sent the investigation report to the public prosecutor on since 7 July 2010. However, the public prosecutor did not prosecute the case until Methi was arrested on 1 June 2020 and then indicted by the Criminal Court on 2 June 2020. The plaint stated in brief that on 10 April 2010, around 6pm, army officers affiliated with the Royal Thai Army were trying to dissolve the assemblies of members of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD). The military officers were armed with Tavor TAR-21 assault rifles using 5.56mm rounds and cartridges plus other objects, altogether 11 items. During their clashes with the UDD protesters, some assailants committed an act of robbery at night time, taking away 13 Tavor TAR-21 assault rifles, 50 cartridges and other items, including one Tavor TAR-21 assault rifle with registration number 38554046 and five cartridges, worth 69,313 baht.

Later, on 22 April 2010, at 5.45am, the police arrested Methi with one Tavor TAR-21 assault rifle with registration number 38554046 and five cartridges which were part of the stolen property. He was also found to possess 92 rounds, one Smith & Wesson .38 special revolver with registration number KT 1942456 (which belonged to another person) and 41 rounds.

On 15 August 2022, the Appeal Court convicted and sentenced Methi to three years imprisonment. Given the beneficial evidence he provided, the punishment was reduced by one third to two years. Methi was allowed to post bail both at the Court of First Instance and the Appeal Court levels.
