Kitja posted on Facebook on 15 October 2020 after participating in a public demonstration at Siam Department Store. The public demonstration on that day was held in response to the police’s crackdown on the previous public demonstrations and arrests of Ratsadon protest leaders related to a public demonstration on 14 October 2020 at Government House.

The Court of First Instance convicted and sentenced Kitja to five years. Given his guilty plea made without the presence of his lawyer, the Court reduced his sentence to two years and six months without suspension and allowed him to post bail. Kitja appealed the case, and on 3 August 2022, the Appeal Court sentenced him to a lighter sentence of three years; given his guilty plea, it was reduced to one year and six months without suspension. Kitja was still allowed to post bail pending the appeal with the Supreme Court.

Eventually on 1 November 2023, the Supreme Court upheld the previous verdict of the Appeal Court to sentence him to imprisonment., Kitja was then brought to serve his sentence at the Bangkok Remand Prison.

Kitja was released from the Bangkok Remand Prison after meeting the criteria for a pardon. He was released on 15 October 2024 after being imprisoned for 350 days.
